That explains a lot with regards to the ad ranking. Nice to know that all my good content is helping to make my PPC campaign more productive. You mean all that Algebra in high school is going to actually be used by me. cool. Good job in sharing this information in layman’s terms. I am de-mystified.

Now we just need to demystify Quality Score!
Good to know that CTR is the bigger component though

The video may be a little dry and “Mr Rogers like” as commented by KM but I think it’s brilliant! It’s the clearest and most succinct explanation of Google Adwords and the Ad Auction process I have seen to date. It reinforces my view that all Google wants is good quality sites within it’s index and as soon as everyone realizes that and plays with Google by their rules the better off we will all be! Happy Advertisers, Happy Users, and Happy Google! We all win!

This helps somewhat, but still leaves google’s criteria for what constitutes relevance of ads and quality of content on the landing page shrouded in mystery (probably intentional). As for Mr. Rogers, I couldn’t see his slippers, so I have no comment!

Of course, as we all know, if you’re an affiliate, none of these formulas apply to you. An extremely high CTR and page after page of unique, custom written content, along with very high keyword / ad text / landing page relevancy doesn’t mean a thing if Google decides they don’t like you.

He should start the video by saying “These formulas only apply if we decide we like you”
